In 2009 I was deployed to Baghdad Iraq when I first contacted Chris Peterson with dakotahuntingtrips.com I told Chris I was looking for a "trespass" style (unguided) merriams turkey hunt for my wife and I in the spring of 2010. Chris handled everything for me through email while I was deployed, including putting us in for our tags. Chris sent us all the forms and information we needed far in advance, and included a DVD of hunts from his ranches. We arrived at the Praire Dog Ranch in White RIver, SD and met with Chris, who was busy guiding other hunters in camp. Chris took time to get us settled in to our cabin and go over the plan for the following morning, before going back to his guiding duties. The hunt was unguided, but Chris took us out to our hunting area in the dark and made sure we were set. We were on birds right out of the truck and could have filled all four of our tags that first morning. My wife shot her first merriams minutes after fly down and we watched several dozen more toms that morning making their way to the upper fields. We shot two birds each that trip, including my tom with 1 3/4 inch spurs. On the last day, Chris found out it was my wife's birthday and drove 45 minutes into town to get her a cake. As unguided hunters we were responsible for our own meals, but that night Chris had us come to the lodge for a birthday dinner and cake. Our experience with Chris and dakotahuntingtrips.com was top notch all around. Chris offers hunts for all types of big and small game. Check him out for a great hunt. .......Mike
